This is Max. Short for Magdalene (which she thinks is an awful name.)
The nameless Store Keeper. Runs a traveling pet menagerie, which depending on the day's luck has everything from your regular white mouse, to three- humped camels.
(Unfortunately, he didn't have any goldfish.)
So, Max sets out on a journey.
